The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has taken part in the 11th edition of the Bahrain International Garden Show, held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The event, held from February 25 to March 1, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad with the support and in the presence of HM the King's Wife and President of the Supreme Council of Women HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. The GPIC participation is part of the company’s commitment to support the environment and promote the creation of green areas and the agricultural sector in the country.
The show this year is being held on the Agricultural Training theme and has seen significant presence of visitors from within and outside Bahrain interested in agricultural affairs and upkeep and development of gardens. It is highlighting investments in the agricultural sector and the importance of achieving its economic growth and contribution to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). It is also looking at a reduction in the food gap and achieving food security.
Her Royal Highness, who is also Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector and Honorary President of the Higher Organizing Committee for the Bahrain International Gardens Show, toured the GPIC pavilion during the show, accompanied by VIP guests and dignitaries. The guests were greeted by GPIC's President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery who conveyed to them the greetings of GPIC Chairman and Adviser to His Royal Highness the Prime Minister on Oil and Industrial Affairs, Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the board and the executive management.
The visitors accompanied Dr. Jawahery and others around the pavilion during which they were briefed on the GPIC’s operations through various models and illustrations. They were told about the company’s environmental projects, its concern with safety of operations and the creation of green areas within the factory complex.
Her Royal Highness expressed her great admiration for the GPIC’s environmental projects and the company’s efforts in caring for the environment as also in the safety procedures it follows. Her Royal Highness also appreciated the GPIC’s efforts to promote environmental and safety activities among all segments of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jawahery thanked and appreciated Her Royal Highness’s efforts to develop the agricultural sector and her initiatives for the protection of the environment. He said the initiatives undertaken by the company in the field of environmental care includes their support to the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector and aims to raise awareness of an agricultural culture and the development of educational systems and training to support farmers.
Dr. Jawahery said the company is very proud of its cooperation with all the green initiatives launched by Her Royal Highness, which comes under her ambitious vision and desire to develop green spaces and create an awareness of the importance of the agricultural sector in achieving sustainable development.
Dr. Jawahery said the show is one of the most important events in the company's calendar and it is keen to provide its support to the event by taking part and exhibiting its products to the public.
He said the importance and methods of use of fertilizers, including urea produced by the company and exported to the finest and most important world markets, are well known. The company, he said, has been distributing samples of this fertilizer as well as awareness brochures and educational flyers during the show as well as promote national and regional initiatives that contribute to the promotion of the environment for future generations.
Dr. Jawahery thanked and appreciated all those involved in organizing and preparing for the show, led by the General Coordinator and Secretary General of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural sector Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa.
