Ford Motor Co. said Friday it planned to invest $1.3 billion in a plant in northern Mexico to produce the new Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models for the North American market. Ford's president for the Americas, Mark Fields, said the money would go into creating 1,000 jobs at Ford's stamping and assembly plant in Hermosillo. "Ford is making a significant investment in this facility and a significant commitment to the employees here while also transforming our vehicle lineup for customers throughout North America," he said. Ford has invested $3 billion in Mexico over the last decade, the company said, and the Hermosillo plant has produced the Fusion sedan since 2005.
