Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung Gulf Electronics, whereby DEWA will develop applications and electronic solutions for use on Samsung products including smart phones, tablets, smarts TVs, and other electronic devices. The agreement is in line with DEWA's strategy to conduct partnerships with local and international organisations to further optimise its services. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Young Soo Kim, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, signed the MoU in the presence of senior officials of both organisations at a ceremony held at DEWA's headquarters. "In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve excellence, promote customer satisfaction and provide high quality services, we adopt international best practices, and implement cutting-edge technologies across our overall electronic services to ensure highest levels of customers' satisfaction. Through this MoU, we aim to develop applications and further expand our partnerships with local and international organisations. This would improve our overall operations and enhance the quality of services provided to our customers at the highest levels of availability, efficiency and reliability," said Al Tayer. "At Dubai Electricity and Water, we are working through this strategic partnership with Samsung, which is a strategic partner in the Water, Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition, "WETEX", that will be organized between 15 and 17 April, to enhance customer services and provide the best solutions and technologies of the highest quality . As per the MOU, DEWA will partner with Samsung to launch a new application for smart TV, tablets, and smart phones manufactured by the company. This serves as a new channel for DEWA to further strengthen its customer service standards. The agreement makes DEWA the first utility in the world to develop new applications for Samsung appliances, especially smart TV, smart phones, tablets, and other electronic devices to ensure that our customers have a fast and efficient way to complete their transactions with the authority. It further educates the public about the importance of using eco-friendly home appliances," added Al Tayer. "We are delighted with the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with DEWA , which the best of the best organization in the region, through today's MOU. This technology partnership will provide DEWA with the foundation and framework for the future implementation of Samsung's innovative products and services, ultimately enabling the company to deliver ever higher levels of customer service. We look forward to supporting DEWA's vision to be a world-class and efficient public utilities provider," said Mr. Young Soo Kim, President, Samsung Gulf Electronics . The MoU will support the sustainable development in Dubai as DEWA in collaboration with Samsung Gulf Electronics will improve the criteria of Green Buildings by improving sustainable solutions which include Building Management System, air conditioning, Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, LED lights, and eco-friendly home appliances. DEWA will conduct awareness programs to educate Samsung's employees on best practices and innovative solutions for conserving electricity and water consumption, and reducing carbon emissions. Samsung Gulf Electronics will provide technical support for DEWA's developers in the development of the applications and publishing the application at Samsung's Seller Office. Both parties will allocate resources with clearly defined point of contacts for on-going and future projects. Bi-annual workshops will be organised in Dubai and in Korea respectively.
