European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said on Thursday that it had drummed up new business worth USD 75.3 billion at this week's Farnborough Air Show in Britain.
A statement issued by Airbus said that it had received orders and commitments for 496 aircraft during the show, a new record for the company in terms of aircraft and dollar value.
Among orders, Airbus said it had received strong commitments for 121 of the soon-to-be-launched A330neo, a fuel-economic, long-distance carrier, which has also ecological advantages.
The smaller A320neo, which Airbus has already developed, attracted 317 orders at Farnborough.
Overall, the company said that it had received purchase orders for 358 planes, for a value of USD 38.4 billion, and MOUs for 138 aircraft, valued at USD 36.9 billion.
"The orders and commitments we've received at this record-breaking Farnborough for both the A330neo and A320neo families are together an unequivocally resounding endorsement for these most cost-efficient aircraft," said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer.
