What is DIAMUN?

DIAMUN is the annual Model United Nations conference held by the Dubai International Academy, which is owned by Innoventures Education. The ninth edition, held between March 15 and 18 this year, was attended by over 1,000 students from 43 schools across 12 countries.

What is its significance?

DIAMUN not only helps students develop leadership skills, it also enhances their knowledge of current affairs, debating, diplomacy, public speaking and writing skills. It enables students from across the globe to network with each other, forging friendships that may last a lifetime. Its motto is “Learners as leaders and leaders as learners”.

What were the issues debated this year?

This year’s theme revolved round the “International Response to Global Conflict”. It reflected the question of why the world is not doing more.

What were the other highlights of the meet?

We had three new committees this time – a special Arabic committee, a youth assembly for Grade 6 and 7 students and the International Court of Justice. We also had our own version of the World Economic Forum
