South Korea's industrial output rebounded in May to mark its biggest expansion in 15 months.
According to Statistics Korea on Thursday, industrial output rose 1.7% on-month in May. It is the highest increase in 15 months since growing 1.9% in February last year.
Industrial output had expanded 0.7% each in February and March but fell 0.8% percent in April, according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) radio news.
The coincident composite index, which shows the current state of the economy, edged up 0.2 percentage point from the previous month.
The statistics office attributed the rebound to the eased pace of declines in exports of semiconductors and automobiles as well as growth in mining and manufacturing output.
A temporary holiday in May, meanwhile, appears to have pushed up domestic consumption.
