Trade and Industry Minister Tareq Qabil said that trade exchange between Egypt and Kenya skyrocketed from 130 million dollars in the first half of 2016 to 170 million dollars during the same period in 2017.
According to a report by the Egyptian trade representation office in Nairobi, Egypt's exports to Kenya went up 30 percent to record 170 million dollars from January to June in 2017.
While imports shaved off 27 percent from 109 million dollars to reach 79 million dollars during the same period of the current year, the report added.
Out of the Egyptian Trade Ministry's keenness on boosting economic ties with African countries, Egypt opened its first logistics services office in Kenya.
As for the balance of trade surplus, it upped 239 percent to 90 million dollars in the first six months of the current year, against 27 million dollars in 2016.
