Egypt and Malaysia discussed Thursday the desire of the Southeast Asian country to operate a weekly flight from Kuala Lumpur to Cairo.
This came during a meeting between Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou and Malaysia’s Ambassador to Egypt Jaafar Ku Shaari on boosting bilateral ties and cooperation, especially in attracting more Malaysian tourists into Egypt.
The flight aims at moving Malaysian tourists to spend five days in Egypt, with the potential of linking such trips with the season of pilgrimage.
Zaazou welcomed the idea, and stressed the importance of starting its implantation as soon as possible, saying he would coordinate with all bodies concerned in this regard.
He suggested inviting Malaysian tour operators to visit Egypt and meet Egyptian officials.
He also expounded the Egyptian landmarks that could be a focus of attention for the Malaysian tourist, such as the archeological sites in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.
Ku Shaari praised the deep-historic ties with Egypt, and welcomed the Egyptian keenness in boosting ties with Malaysia, especially in the tourist sector.
