More than 15 embassies in Ghana are taking part in this year's edition of the Diplomatic Fair which opened at the Accra International Conference Center here on Thursday.

The Fair serves as a platform to connect local businesses to the diplomatic community in Ghana, and presents an opportunity for diplomatic organizations to sensitize the public, promote their services and showcase their achievements.

It is organized by Precise Communications Ltd, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and the office of the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Ghana.

Major exhibitors at the three-day fair are mainly diplomatic organizations accredited to Ghana while other well-known brands also took the advantage to exhibit their products.

The products ranged from African fabric, educational opportunities, telecommunications, electronics, banking and finance.

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Ghana, Pavelyn Tendai Musaka, said the promotion of tourism, trade and investment could no longer be driven by governments alone but through the collaboration of key stakeholders in the private sector.

She said it was such an event as the diplomatic fair that helped create straight partnership opportunities for businesses and governments which in turn stimulates long-term economic growth.

"Through the diplomatic fair 2016, we witnessed what tangible results would be achieved through public-private sector partnerships. As you would note, the majority of the exhibitions have been sponsored by the private sector on a win-win basis," said Musaka, who is also the High Commissioner for Zimbabwe to Ghana.

Maria Emilia Almeida, the Deputy Head of Angolan Mission in Ghana, saw the fair as a very good initiative because people had the opportunity to interact with the people who worked in the economic sphere.

"We have the opportunity to show what potential our countries have, what we can offer in Ghana to not just the diplomats around but also all the people that are interested in investing," she said.

The head of Precise Communications, Stephen Gyasi-Kwaw, said the fair was going to give an opportunity to the private sector to engage with the diplomatic sector in the area of trade
