A UAE relief ship carrying 3,000 tonnes of food and aid supplies has arrived in Aden, as part of the country's ongoing humanitarian efforts in Yemen.
The assistance, which was launched by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, is one of many daily urgent relief efforts being implemented by UAE organisations.
The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, is also carrying-out urgent relief efforts in Aden and yesterday announced plans to expand its reach to help more people in other provinces around the country.
UAE aid programmes are in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the follow up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the ERC Board.
Fahad Abdul Rahman bin Sultan, ERC Deputy Secretary-General, said that health and education projects are being given top priority as the back-to-school season approaches, as part of efforts to restore education in Aden and other provinces.
The ERC Deputy Secretary-General said that 153 schools and kindergartens will be equipped with necessary supplies, including education kits, to help them prepare for the school season. The ERC will also support universities and colleges at a later stage.
In addition, Bin Sultan said that hospitals in Aden and surrounding areas will be provided with unlimited access to primary healthcare and urgent medical supplies.
