Suez security Chief Major General Gamal Abdel Bari on Wednesday conferred with a number of the governorate's tribal chieftains on the strategic and pivotal importance of Suez.
During the meeting, the top security official stressed the effective and important role of the tribes in the fight against terrorists who pose threats to Egypt's energy resources, notably gas pipelines, power plants and electricity towers.
He added that each tribe would have the responsibility of monitoring any acts of sabotage against the country's property in one of the governorate's areas.
Abdel Bari called on the chieftains to raise the tribesmen's awareness of the national role they assume in such critical time.
