The number of Saudi males and females employed in the private sector rose in 2015 by more than 10 percent compared to the previous year, a local publication reported.
The annual statistics for the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) said the number of Saudi workers in the private sector reached more than 1.738 million male and female workers, which means that the number of employees rose by 188,986 from the number in 2014 which totaled to 1.5 million.
The statistics showed that the number of males working in the private sector in 2015 reached to 1.239 million, accounting for 71 percent of the total number of Saudis in the same sector, while the number of female Saudi employees reached more than 499,000, accounting for 29 percent of the total.
Statistics by SAMA, which based its data and information on figures from the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, revealed that male and female Saudis working in the private sector represent 16 percent of the total number of employees in the sector, exceeding 10.5 million workers.
Riyadh acquired the major share in the recruitment of nationals in the private sector, with the total of Saudi workers exceeding 671,000, representing 38 percent, while the Eastern Province occupied second place in the recruitment of nationals in the private sector by 23 percent.
Makkah came in third in the recruitment of nationals in the private sector, with 395,000 male and female Saudi workers, representing 22 percent at the level of the Kingdom.
