HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Qatar and Executive Board Member of ICC International Secretariat, on Wednesday praised the Law No. 2 of 2017 on Arbitration in Civil and Commercial Matters, describing it as an 'important reference' to resolve trade disputes that can arise between companies in Qatar which would enhance the successful investment climate of Qatar.
Among the main roles that ICC Qatar is keen to play are raising awareness of the new Qatari laws and legislation on the economic and commercial activity in Qatar, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani said in a press release published following the panel discussion held at Qatar Chamber hedquarters yesterday on the new Arbitration Law.
Since the launch of the Qatar National Vision 2030 nine years ago, the State of Qatar has focused on modernizing the national laws and legislation to keep pace with its goals aimed at transforming Qatar by 2030 into an advanced country capable of achieving sustainable development and ensuring a decent life for its people, generation after generation, he said.
Such targets also intersect with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, he went on saying.
