NAMA attends Global WIL Economic Forum
Sharjah - WAM

Continuing its mandate to highlight women as pivotal members of society and essential drivers of the economy, Women Advancement Establishment, NAMA, joined hundreds of international philanthropists, diplomats, lawyers, economists, entrepreneurs and equality advocates at the Global Women In Leadership, WIL, Economic Forum in Dubai last week.

Held under the patronage of Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, the 19th forum was attended by more than 500 global business leaders, policy-makers, NGOs, artists and young people to champion diversity as the cornerstone of sustainable economic development. As a bronze sponsor of the event, which hosted internationally renowned speakers from four continents, NAMA played a significant role at the forum.

Reem BinKaram, Director-General of NAMA, said the event was perfectly in line with the establishment’s own objectives of female inclusion and advancement in the economy, especially in leadership positions.

"Our attendance was the ideal opportunity for NAMA to convey its message to such an influential and receptive audience. This assembly of global leaders in their fields showed that the empowerment of women across the world continues to take great strides in terms of tangible results, hence the theme for this year’s edition, ‘The Butterfly Effect – From Intent to Impact’, a notion that describes perfectly the reality of women taking their rightful place in all aspects of society."

The forum was a great opportunity to create awareness for the first Women’s Economic Empowerment Global Summit, WEEGS, which will be held on December 4th and 5th, 2017 in Sharjah, and will be organised by NAMA and the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, UN Women.
