The Ministry of Commerce and Investment (MCI) inspectors have been deployed to monitor prices and the quality of goods sold in retail outlets during Eid Al-Fitr.
Officials from the ministry have carried out inspection tours on shops and outlets selling Zakat Al-Fitr items, clothing, Eid accessories and sweets, which are greatly in demand leading up to the holiday.
The inspection campaign aims to make sure that price tags are on every item and that they correspond to what is charged at the register. Teams have also been monitoring promotions offered by supermarkets and shops during this period to ensure that there is no commercial fraud.
Consumers are urged to lodge their complaints and observations through the ministry’s consumer call center (1900) or by the application of a commercial violation report, via their smartphones.
