Budget deficit rose to EGP 159.063 billion pounds (6.9 percent of GDP) during a period starting from July to January, the Ministry of Finance said Sunday.
In a report, the ministry said the latest increase in the budget deficit came compared to EGP 119.597 billion pounds during the same period last year, the ministry added.
The state revenues decreased to hit 186.669 billion pounds compared to 217.930 billion during the same period last year.
Expenditure soared to EGP 337.101 billions, against EGP 333.529 billions last year, the ministry added.
