The government has been listing products that have a folkloric and popular orientation to ban the import of similar items from China and other countries, Industry and Trade Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour said.
Speaking at a press conference held on the sidelines of opening of a new branch of the Chamber of Commerce in Suez, Abdel Nour said the products include lanterns, Pharaonic-themed statuettes and others that represent the Egyptian culture and heritage.
The ministry had announced recently preparing a draft law to amend the present intellectual property law to include more measures to protect products and items that have folkloric, historic or Pharaonic influence.
