Upon a request from France and Saudi Arabia, Egypt is shouldering the responsibility of finding solutions that take into consideration the interest of the nations whose economy is based on producing petroleum and efforts to combat climate change, said Egypt's Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy.
On the sidelines of climate conference, Fahmy told MENA that these solutions do not only concern the Gulf but also concern several world countries.
"We have reached a consensus on cooperation with the Polish side and submitted it to French Foreign Minister and head of Climate Conference Laurent Fabius in order to include it in the text of the agreement," he said, adding that this consensus was supported by the US and several countries.
The minister, meanwhile, said that the African countries have totally refused to add the clause of human rights in the agreement and link it with aid which will receive it to support adaptation and mitigation efforts.
The African countries are waiting for the issuance of the last draft of the agreement to see how far it is consistent with their fixed principles, he said, adding that the draft agreement which was issued yesterday from the Paris Conference does not meet the aspirations of the African countries and does not run with consistent with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
