The Ministry of Antiquities has saved 250 million pounds to complete a project to upgrade the Hadabet el Ahramat area, which started in 2009.
Minister Khaled Anany announced the good news in a meeting of the tourism and aviation committee of the House of Representatives Tuesday.
The first phase of the project costs some 52 million pounds and should be finalized in three months, Anany said.
That phase will include an international service area to provide excellent service to tourists, the minister said, adding that the service area will be separated from the archaeological sites.
Tourism police and civil defense buildings will be established, as well as a post office, Anany told the committee.
