Dubai Trade, the single window for cross-border trade and a DP World company, has integrated its Rosoom secured e-Payment gateway with Tahweel, the e-service portal of Dubai Maritime City, DMC, with the aim of supporting the Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy and the Smart Dubai initiative.
The new step enables companies working in DMC to complete their transactions online using the Tahweel online portal, without having to visit the customer service centres. The integration also allows DMC customers to use the various online payment options offered by Rosoom, local and international Visa or MasterCard credit cards, e-Dirham or direct debit from bank accounts, easily and seamlessly.
Speaking on the occasion, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, said, "We aim to create an unparalleled global model for 'smart' maritime trade that is based on the efficient and transparent exchange of information for ease of doing business, while creating new opportunities for the maritime industry. This will help diversify resources for economic growth and help us pioneer developments in the sector."
"Dubai’s maritime sector has become one of the five leading drivers of economic diversification. We contribute AED26.9 billion to Dubai's GDP, with unprecedented growth of over 25 percent since 2011. Dubai is now on the list of Top-10 Maritime Capitals of the World 2017, ranking fifth globally and first in the Arab World. This underlines our contribution to Dubai’s success as one of the world’s most competitive and attractive maritime trade hubs," bin Sulayem added.
Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DP World UAE Region, said, "Dubai's maritime sector includes over 5,500 companies and 13,000 maritime and investment activities, providing a total of 76,000 jobs. Dubai Trade plays a central role in this success as an integrated e-service provider, contributing to customers’ happiness as they focus more on making deals and develop their businesses rather than wasting time on paper-work."
"The integration between Dubai Maritime City’s Tahweel portal and the secured Rosoom e-Payment gateway reinforces many of our previous achievements. Rosoom has completed over 8.3 million transactions, collecting over AED6 billion. We are confident that this integration will further enhance Dubai Maritime City's attractiveness as a preferred destination for business and maritime investments," Al Muallem added.
Ali Al Suwaidi, General Manager of DMC, said, "While the maritime industry is undergoing major advancements towards adopting modern technologies, manual and paper transactions hinder the development of the industry. That’s why, Dubai Maritime City has taken the initiative to be a role model for smart maritime where our customers can complete all their business transactions online, anytime, anywhere."
Mahmood Al Bastaki, CEO of Dubai Trade, said, "The integration of Rosoom and Tahweel is the 32nd of its kind. We are proud to have accomplished this achievement with many other organisations including DP World, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Nakheel, Trakhees, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai TechnoPark and Palm District Cooling. We assure our partners in Dubai Maritime City that their customers can now use the most secure electronic payment gateway."
Rosoom has proven to be the most convenient and reliable online payment tool. The platform has not recorded any fraud or complaints from users since its launch. Users can choose from a variety of payment options such as credit and debit cards using online banking. Banks that are integrated with Rosoom include Mashreq, HSBC, Habib Bank, Emirates NBD, Dubai Commercial Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, Emirates Islamic, Standard Chartered and First Gulf Bank.
