The Arab League's Economic Commission convened on Monday to follow up preparations for the 96th ordinary session of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, slated for Thursday.
The meeting, under Adviser to the UAE Economy Minister Mohammed Saleh Shelwah, discussed several important issues, particularly the economic file of the AL Council at the summit level in its regular 27th session, slated for March in Morocco, along with following up the implementation of the Arab-African Summit decisions at its third session held in Kuwait.
Shelwah said that the committee also followed up the implementation of the "Lima Declaration" issued by the Third Summit of Arab and South American countries with regard to economic aspects, cooperation with the United Nations and its specialized agencies on the economic level and the developments of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the Arab Customs Union.
The meeting also reviewed the investments in the Arab countries, the Arab international cooperation forums, establishing an Arab - Chinese training center for the peaceful uses of the atomic energy, as well as periodic economic issues, and ministerial councils and committees reports.
