Sultan bin Saeed Al-Mansouri
Dubai - WAM

UAE Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri has discussed with the Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Janusz Piechocinski, the need to implement the resolutions of the second meeting of the Joint Economic Committee, held in April in Abu Dhabi, with the aim to boost investment, increase trade exchange and cooperation in the areas of technology and research in a way that serves the innovation strategy.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's visit, was attended by Mohammed Ali Al Abbar, Chairman of Emaar, Asim Mirza Al Rahma, UAE Ambassador to Poland, and Adam Krzymowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the UAE.

They discussed ways to upgrade the joint economic cooperation in all fields and explore the potential of both countries to strengthen cooperation in major sectors, especially in areas of infrastructure, trade, industry, renewable energy, agriculture, SME projects and innovation.

Al Mansouri commended the visit of the UAE Vice President to Poland, which reflects the interest of the two countries to strengthen relations and boost development in both countries.

He further added that in line with economic openness and diversification policies, the UAE leadership is keen to strengthen relations with all countries, especially in the areas of economy, trade and investment in the best interest of all parties.

He added that the trade exchange soared to US$1.3 billion in 2014, up by 160 per cent compared to 2012 when it did not exceed US$500 million, noting that these figures do not reflect the way trade relations should have developed and grown by now.

On his part, the Polish Deputy PM stressed the importance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's visit to Poland, adding that the visit would further strengthen the economic relations between the two countries. He added that his recent visit to the UAE gave him first-hand information about investment opportunities in the UAE.

While in the UAE, the Polish official said he had been impressed with the advanced infrastructure in the country. He added that his country has many investment opportunities, especially in the sectors of agriculture, food security, energy, advance industrial engineering, tourism, education, aviation and others.

At the end of the meeting, Al Mansouri praised the efforts of the UAE envoy to enhance bilateral relations, especially in the area of economy. He also appreciated the efforts of the Polish envoy in the UAE.
