The President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), Issa Haider Murad, said the chamber is seeking to find common ideas to help identify obstacles that slow the flow of goods and services between Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
During a meeting, which brought together ministers, officials and economic leaders with Saudi ambassador to Jordan Sami al-Saleh, highlighted the need to strengthen relations between the two countries, mainly in strategic economic sectors.
Murad stressed the need to attract more Saudi investment to the Kingdom to increase the strong partnerships between the two countries in various economic spheres.
Participants in the meeting, which was organized by the ACC, said that Jordan, which enjoys political stability, security, as well as the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is capable of further boosting Saudi investments, stressing their support to overcome all obstacles.
They further explained that Jordan is forging a new phase to attract investments and nurture existing projects, based on a clear vision that addresses imbalances in previous legislation to overcome, facilitate and accelerate bureaucratic procedures.
They further highlighted the importance of economic relations between Jordan's private sector and Saudi Arabia, which is considered an important trade partner of the Kingdom.
Participant stressed the need to activate the Joint Jordanian-Saudi Business Council in a bid to improve economic relations and push efforts to attract Saudi investments in Jordan, as well as to establish joint ventures.
Participants stressed the need to address obstacles between the two countries to increase trade exchanges and improve the flow of goods and people, as well as to unify the standards of the two countries, grant exporters and Jordanian doctors facilities, with regard to visas from the Saudi side, as well as facilitate the inspection procedures of Jordanian industrial exports.
Murad said Saudi Arabia is one of Jordan’s most important economic and strategic trade partners, as Saudi investments stood at $ 10 billion, while Jordanian investments in Saudi Arabia have reached about $ 3 billion.
Murad further expressed hope that there will be greater cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture and provide greater opportunities for Jordanian agricultural products to enter Saudi Arabia, which he said enjoys high technical specifications that made them competitive in European markets.
The (ACC) is a non-profit organization that aims to protect the trade sector’s interests, participating in drawing up legislation, as well as contributing to sustainable economic development in Jordan.
