Forty-five ships transited the Suez Canal on Friday including a giant LNG carrier with a total cargo of 1.900 million tons.
Norwegian Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) tanker Arctic Princess crossed the canal today laden with 131,000 cubic meters of LNG, said chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish.
The Arctic Princess was the largest LNG carrier ever built, though this record was soon challenged. It is 288 meters long and has a fully-laden capacity of 147,000 cubic meters of LNG.
The south-bound convoy included 25 vessels carrying 930,000 tons, while the north-bound convoy included 20 ships carrying 970,000 million tons, Mamish said.
