London - Arab Today

While October is dedicated to breast cancer and awareness of this disease is at an all time high, there are still many types of cancer that go unheard of – such as carcinoid, esophageal or thyroid – causing a major gap in research funding. After losing her grandfathers to brain and lung cancer, her godmother to carcinoid cancer and more friends than would be reasonable to count to breast cancer, Dr. Kimberly Pettaway Willis created her current company Kolorz of Cancer presented by Cor’Rae. “Everyone recognizes the pink ribbon for breast cancer, which is great,” said Dr. Willis. “But there are so many other types of cancer that each have a unique color associated with them. I want to bring attention to the more obscure cancers that people battle everyday.” Dr. Willis’ aunt Lisa Pettaway Whitaker has also been touched by loss due to various types of cancer and was inspired to begin writing support poetry. The two have collected Whitaker’s poems and transformed them into a daily devotional, “Cancer…Teardrops Beneath the Kolorz of the Rainbow.” This poetry devotional is meant to bring comfort and inspiration to any and all affected by cancer. “We want the book to create awareness and inspire activism towards cures or treatments for lesser known types of cancer,” said Willis. “We also want the book to bring comfort and strength to those who suffer or who have lost a loved one to any type of cancer.” Source: PRWEB
