The Kuwaiti Embassy in Bahrain organized a cultural event themed Al-Bayt Al-Wahid, Arabic for "One home", recalling the passing of 50 years since Kuwait's independence, 20 years since liberation from the Iraqi occupation, and five years since His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah took the helm as Kuwait's 15th Amir.Inaugurating the activities Tuesday night, Ambassador Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah told KUNA the theme also carries to the nature of relationship between the people of Kuwait and of Bahrain, who we also consider kin and family. The event was planned for February, at the time of the anniversaries, but was pushed back due to the security incidents in Bahrain. "We now hold this event and wish the kingdom the best as it marks the king's accession anniversary. We also share hope Bahrain is starting a new era and putting its pains behind." Bahraini King Advisor for Media Affairs Nabil Al-Hamar for his part remarked that the theme of the event reflects the relationship between the two nations on both official and political level and on the level of the general public. "We need such events to bolster the bonds between our people, and we need them on the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council as a whole." The embassy organized a photo exhibition as part of the Al-Bayt Al-Wahid event, as well as an evening of folklore music, and a poetry reading.
