A woman admires Photos by Matthias Matzak during the opening ceremony of the exhibition "LIGHT AIR SUN: The New Frankfurt in German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt, Germany, on Dec.05, 2014. Between 1925 and 1930 the city Frankfurt transformed into a hotspot of the avant-garde's 'New Building' movement, which captivated the entire European continent. At the center of this trend was the endeavor to build social housing. In 2008 Frankfurt photo artist Matthias Matzak began to record the remains of this legacy with his camera. He opted for a subjective approach to the architecture, thus painting a vivid portrait that far extends the scope of a documentary: 'In my pictures I want to show the personality of a building, not just its shell.'
