Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal inaugurated Wednesday the 18th International Book Fair of Algiers. The inaugural ceremony was attended by President of the Constitutional Council Mourad Medelci, several cabinet members and foreign diplomats. Nearly 1,000 Algerian and foreign publishers take part in the fair which runs until 9 November in Exhibitions Center of Pins maritimes under the sigh of "Open up to the world." This year's edition will have as guest of honor Wallonia-Brussels given the "rich experience of this region of Belgium in the fields of literature and publishing." For the first time in the Fair's history, China will be one of the forty foreign exhibitors, Commissioner Hamidou Messaoudi had announced. He had also said, during a news conference last week that 922 exhibitors from 43 countries (including Algeria with 260 publishing houses), making it a "record" participation in comparison with last edition with 718 publishers
