World Poetry Society Intercontinental (WPSI), headquartered in Chennai, India, has conferred the Poetry Award for Culture and Humanism on Emirati poet Dr. Shihab M Ghanem at the annual "Poets Meet" gathering in Chennai on Saturday, 26th of October. Dr. A. Padmanaban, former Governor of Mizoram State of India, presented Ghanem with the award which recognises his poetry and dedication to building cultural bridges between peoples of different nations through his translation of poetry written in various languages. In May 2013, Ghanem was awarded the Tagore Peace Award by the Asiatic Society in Kolkata, India.
