A periodical entitled " The Letter of the Algerian Melhun" will be issued soon to make the works of poet Lakhdar Benkhlouf known, said Wednesday the Commissioner of Melhun Poetry Festival Abdelkader Bendameche. "This periodical will be a source of information on the historical period which saw the birth of this poetry genre, the Melhun, as well as its development. This period has to be known in all its facets," he said on the sidelines of a colloquium devoted to this poetry genre held Wednesday in Mostaganem. This periodical "is meant to explain the works of Lakhdar Benkhelouf, a man who devoted his life to worship and struggle to convey the divine message as stated in his poems which relate the battles of Mazagran (1558), of Mers El Kebir (1505)," said the festival’s commissioner. In his speech, journalist and historian Amar Belkhodja said that Lakhdar Benkhlouf has to be regarded as "the prince of the poets of Melhun, just like Abdelkader Khaldi in the genre called Ghazal." impression
