Blood and Parcels
London - Arab Today

Crossing five generations from France to the U.S. Virgin Islands, T.Q. Bernier’s new fiction “Blood and Parcels” (published by Lulu), the first in a planned trilogy, is epic in its scope.
“‘Blood and Parcels’ may be best described as a suspenseful family drama,” Bernier says. “However, the venue of the tale is distinctly unique. The exotic beauty of the Caribbean Islands, where the story unfolds, is described in colorful, descriptive details.”
Set in 19th-century France, “Blood and Parcels” tells the story of the Dusant family, who are caught in the war brewing between Germany and France. This multigenerational story continues in the Caribbean Islands and culminates in the present. Though the years pass and the settings change, Bernier’s characters are united by their bond as a family and their sense of ancestral duty. Over the course of this novel, readers will witness the consequences of love, lust, loss, betrayal and murder.
An excerpt from “Blood and Parcels”:
“Thank you for writing to my grandmother, Olivia, and for passing that mantle to your son, Marcel. He wrote to my father for years, and those correspondences, written so long ago, fulfilled your mission of keeping your bloodline connected. I am leaving now. I am going back to my life in America, a life that’s so much more gratifying because of what you and all the others have taught me about myself. I am honored that your blood courses through my veins, and I am privileged to be your great-granddaughter.
