''L'Italie a' table'' (Eating in Italy) is an important event for French food connoisseurs. This food and wine festival opens tomorrow in Nice, for the eighth consecutive year, by the local Italian Chamber of Commerce. From tomorrow to June 3, people will be able to taste the best Italian dishes at the stands in Jardin Albert I, discovering at the same time the origin and history of the regions where these dishes were invented. Many Italian regions will be present at the event with their own stands, in which they will present their gastronomy and tourist attractions. The event, organised with the support of the Italian foreign trade ministry and the city of Nice, also hosts three conferences, 17 wine tastings and five 'cooking lessons' by important Italian chefs. Several activities for children have been planned as well, starting with schoolchildren from Nice who tomorrow will have a chance to discover the Italian cuisine, tasting 22,000 dishes prepared especially for them. The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Nice organises 'L'Italie a' table' to promote the export of Italian products to France, that way supporting Italian SMEs in the sector in the current difficult economic situation.
