Eugene Laverty has set his sights on challenging for victory again at Monza, scene of his tremendous double triumph with Yamaha twelve months ago. The Irishman stunned the WSBK paddock with his convincing victories around the Italian circuit last season on the way to finishing fourth overall in his maiden Superbike campaign, but comes into this year's edition having switched to Aprilia machinery. With the RSV-4, which is frequently quickest through the speed traps, tipped to perform well on the lengthy straights, Laverty is feeling positive about putting in a repeat performance, particularly after a confidence boosting podium at Assen. “I was happy with my debut podium on the Aprilia at Assen following a tough start to the season. The team were very supportive and never lost faith in my ability so it was nice to reward them with a podium finish. “I'm really looking forward to Monza as the Aprilia is very fast in a straight line. I had a double victory at the circuit last year so I'd love nothing more than to do the same again this time around.”
