Bern - Arabstoday

The 68-year-old said that the governing body is illegally trying to gain control of the Caribbean organisation and called for dissent to be raised against president Sepp Blatter.Former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner has claimed that the governing body for world football is attempting to take control of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU).The alert comes just days after Fifa hosted a meeting in Zurich with Caribbean officials, which allegedly violates the CFU's rules."Neither the CFU nor the Concacaf is a member of Fifa, with the CFU being the regional administrative arm of the Concacaf," read a statement issued by Warner."Therefore neither organisation has any legal standing within the Fifa, or vice versa."Notwithstanding the above, the presidents attended the meeting in Zurich to presumably discuss various matters that should have been within the sole purview of the CFU membership."The 68-year-old, who resigned from his position in Fifa in June, then revealed that 26 of the 30 Caribbean representatives at the meeting agreed to the decisions which were proposed by the world football's governing body."Among the unethical decisions which were accepted by the 26 cowardly men and women present was the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to execute various tasks on behalf of the CFU," Warner continued."This 'Normalisation Committee' comprises of nine persons, including the suspended president of the Jamaica Football Federation, who will assume his appointment on January 16 2012 upon completion of his suspension from all football activities."Between this and the presence of Angenie Kanhai, who was supposed to have resigned as General Secretary of the CFU effective December 20 2011, this meeting has to be a farce of epic proportions."Warner went on to harshly criticise the CFU officials who attended the meeting, saying that they were "dictated" to by Fifa president Sepp Blatter and that "they are more interested in serving themselves than serving those persons who elected them to office"."In one fell swoop, the Caribbean football leadership has now undone its struggle of some 33 years and has disrespected the entire region," he declared. The Trinidadian accused Fifa of attempting "a hostile takeover" of Concacaf and the CFU and said that Blatter must be stopped."The Fifa president must not be allowed to continue the demeaning of people of colour without someone raising a voice to tell him enough is enough," Warner continued."The Fifa president cannot continue faux pas after faux pas with impunity, especially when all his wrongdoings are along the same vector of megalomania, covert racism and discrimination."The former Fifa vice-president added that he will comment on the issue of TV rights for the World Cup in the region on December 28, as such matter was also discussed in the meeting.
