France fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc pledged himself to last season's Top 14 finalists Montpellier till 2014 on Saturday. The 25-year-old - capped 35 times - exercised an option in his contract signed at the beginning of the year to extend it by another two seasons as he had wanted to see whether club coach Fabien Galthie replaced Marc Lievremont as national handler. In the event former France captain Galthie lost out to another former skipper Philippe Saint Andre. Trinh-Duc, who won praise for his performance in the World Cup final after replacing Morgan Parra early on, had said at the time of committing himself for one year that he also wanted to see guarantees for the budget, the overall strategy for the club and their ambitions in the transfer market. Trinh-Duc, who had been in talks with other clubs, has strong ties to the club as he came through their youth system before making his senior debut in February 2008 shortly before he won his first cap under Lievremont.
