HH Qatar's Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of Qatar Olympic Committee, led a high-level delegation of Doha 2020 Bid Committee to present Doha’s bid to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games to the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Moscow Saturday morning. At the beginning of the Qatari presentation, HH the Heir Apparent congratulated Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Member of the International Olympic Committee and President of Olympic Council of Asia, on his election as President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) yesterday. Then, HH the Heir Apparent presented the members of the Doha 2020 Bid Committee, and Qatar's case to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. HH the Heir Apparent said that Doha's bid to host the Olympic Games aims to create sport and business opportunities for the Olympic movement, set up sports programs and courts that benefit the entire region, support and develop the women sport in the Arab world and extending new bridges of hope and understanding between the Middle East and the international community. In recent years, HH the Heir Apparent said, the State of Qatar made significant investments in the field of sports, a strategic decision that represents a fundamental part of the country's national vision of the state. HH the Heir Apparent added that Qatar Olympic Committee had entered into consultations with the international federations with regard to the timing of the possible Doha 2020 Games. The consultations have resulted in Qatar's offer to host the Olympic Games from October 2 to 18, and Paralympic Games from November 4 to 15.
