Yaoundé - Arabstoday

The two Indomitable Lions players say they will quit the team if the sanctions on Samuel Eto’o are not removed.Olympiacos' Jean II Makoun and Anzhi Makhachkala right-back Benoît Angbwa have threatened to quit the Cameroon national team if the football federation (Fecafoot) does not reinstate captain Samuel Eto’o with immediate effect, as he is currently facing a 15-man suspension following a friendly match boycott against Algeria last month. The two players say they intend to take the action in solidarity with Eto’o and the team’s vice captain Enoh Eyong, as the November 15 strike action was a collective revolt of all the players.“The decision not to travel to Algiers for the friendly had been taken by all the players and not by Samuel Eto’o and Enoh Eyong alone. We hereby express our solidarity with our team-mates who are our spokespersons and we formally challenge the sanctions imposed on them,” a statement delivered to Fecafoot by a lawyer representing the two players read.“Also, we will not honour any call up to the national team until the unjustified and unfair sanctions have been removed,” it added.Eto’o and Eyong did not appeal the Fecafoot disciplinary committee decision, which means the Anzhi forward could miss nearly all of the qualifiers of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2014 World Cup.
