Madrid - Arabstoday

The Spain striker was the inspiration for Marcelo Bielsa's side, who secured their first league win of the season. Inigo Martinez scored a stunner from his own half for the locals.Villarreal rescued a point at home to Zaragoza on Saturday thanks to Hernan Perez's 84th-minute header at El Madrigal. The Yellow Submarine's stuttering start to the season continued as fans vented their frustration at coach Juan Carlos Garrido, who was lauded last season as he led his side to a fourth-placed finish and the semi-finals of the Europa League.Luis Garcia gave Zaragoza the lead as he played a neat one-two with Fernando Meira, brought the ball down and lashed a fierce shot past Diego Lopez to make it 1-0.Giuseppe Rossi levelled for the hosts seven minutes later as he fired home from the spot after the referee awarded a highly-contentious penalty to Garrido's men after the ball hit Meira on the thigh. Rossi fired home after he was ordered to retake his kick, having been punished for a paradinha dummy with his first effort.Zaragoza soon went back in front, though, as Pablo Barrera latched onto Meira's long ball and blasted past Diego Lopez on the stroke of half-time.Villarreal dominated in the second half but were kept at bay by some brilliant goalkeeping from Roberto, who made a string of sensational saves. However, Zaragoza defender Maurizio Lanzaro saw red for a second bookable offence with 10 minutes left and shortly afterwards, the unmarked Perez headed home Cani's corner to save the hosts' blushes.Villarreal and Zaragoza remain in the bottom half of the table with six points apiece.Racing Santander are still without a win this season after drawing at home to newly-promoted Rayo Vallecano on Saturday evening. The Cantabrians went behind to a fine strike from Raul Tamudo after 20 minutes and were lucky to survive as the visitors missed a number of chances to build on their lead. But Adrian Gonzalez levelled with a header just short of the hour-mark after great work from Pedro Munitis and Oscar Serrano.Michu then hit the bar at the other end and Adrian missed a great chance to steal it at the death for Racing, who are still without a win and with just four points - two less than Rayo - from their opening six games.Israeli international Tomer Hemed scored twice from the penalty spot as coachless Mallorca came back to win a point at Osasuna in an entertaining encounter at the Reyno de Navarra on Saturday.Hemed was on target after 34 minutes for the islanders, who parted company with coach Michael Laudrup earlier this week, as he sent Andres Fernandez the wrong way from 12 yards after he had been brought down in the area by Miguel Flano.A brace from Raul Garcia then looked to have swung the match in Osasuna's favour. The midfielder headed home a corner just before the interval and then repeated the feat 13 minutes into the second half to make it 2-1.The former Atletico Madrid man then almost completed a hat-trick of headers, but saw his third effort, following a free-kick, saved by Dudu Aouate.A home win looked on the cards, though, as Emilio Nsue was harshly dismissed for a foul on Roland Lamah on 72 minutes.Another questionable decision went in Mallorca's favour, though, as Lamah was punished for a challenge on Alejandro Alfaro and Hemed converted from the spot.Mallorca and Osasuna both have seven points and lie in mid-table after this result. Sergio Canales' third-minute strike gave Valencia all three points and saw Unai Emery's side move provisionally joint-top of La Liga ahead of Sunday's games.Getafe looked to have earned their second win of the season in this match, but late goals from Enzo Maresca and Julio Baptista resulted in a dramatic, improbable 3-2 victory for Malaga in an absorbing encounter on Saturday night. After a goalless first half, Pedro Leon opened the scoring after 55 minutes. Just under 10 minutes later Ruud Van Nistelrooy netted his first goal for the club to level the scores, only to see Miku restore his side's lead 15 minutes from time.It looked all but over, but Maresca scored from close range to bring it to 2-2 after 88 minutes. Then, in the 93rd minute, a brilliant overhead kick from Baptista assured his side the three points, taking his team top of the table alongside Valencia. For Getafe, their second win still alludes them as they currently lie in 16th place with four points from their six games.Fernando Llorente struck twice as Athletic Bilbao claimed the bragging rights over their regional rivals, Real Sociedad, in Sunday's Basque derby and secured their first league win of the season in the process.Athletic had failed to win any of their first five Liga encounters under new coach Marcelo Bielsa, but got their first victory of the season on Thursday night, when they beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 at San Mames in the Europa League.Llorente later claimed that European success meant nothing if his side failed to win this match, and the Spain striker was the inspiration behind the victory.Llorente gave the visitors the lead after 33 minutes as he turned neatly, left Vadim Demidov in his wake and slotted a clinical shot past Claudio Bravo.Real came out strongly in the second half and Inigo Martinez hit a wonderful leveller after an hour, when he spotted Gorka Iraizoz off his line and beat the Athletic keeper with a brilliant lobbed, left-footed effort from inside his own half.It looked a similar story for Athletic and Sociedad almost took the lead four minutes later, when Antoine Griezmann hit the post for the home side. But five minutes later, Llorente made it 2-1 to the visitors, converting Fernando Amorebieta's cross at the far post. And that proved enough for Athletic, who move out of the relegation zone, while Real remain in ninth.Betis are still top of La Liga, despite last week's defeat to Getafe, and will be looking for a win over Levante when the sides meet on Sunday afternoon. Gregorio Manzano's men will be looking to bounce back from last week's 5-0 drubbing to Barcelona and face a tricky home encounter against Sevilla on Sunday at 1800 CET. The champions are still searching for their first away win in Liga this season and will be confident of picking up all three points when they face bottom club Sporting on Sunday at 2000 CET. Jose Mourinho's side have not won on the road in Liga since the opening day of the season, and will be looking to build on last week's 6-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano when they come up against Espanyol on Sunday at 2200 CET.
