Ankara, Oct 15, IRNA – National Iranian Wushu Team managed to secure vice world championship position as Iranian athletes gained 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, standing second only after world champ China. According to IRNA, in this 11th round this field of the martial arts competitions, held in Turkish capital city, Ankara for the first time, Hamid-Reza Qolipour, Mohsen Mohammad-Seifi, Sajjad Abbasi, Maryam Hashemi, Shahrbanou Mansourian, and Maliheh Fazli managed to get gold medals. Also, Farshad Arabi, and Iran’s three-member team of in De Illen Pallo field, comprised of Ebrahim Fat’he, Mohsen Ahmadi, and Navid Macvandi, beat their competitors to gain their silver medals. In this round of the World Wushu Championship games, Elaheh Mansourian and Javad Aqa’ie, as well as Iran’s two-member Women’s Palo Team, comprised of Mitra Abbasi and Mahboubeh Karimi managed to gain bronze medals. Iranian women Wushu practitioners put in excellent performance at the 11th World Wushu Championships in Ankara, Turkey, and captured three gold medals. Maryam Hashemiforoud recorded impressive victories in her march to the final and collected the gold medal in the women's 65 kg category of the Sanda section on Friday after she defeated Radovicescu Georgiana from Romania, the Iranian national news network, IRIB reported. Shahrbanou Mansourian overpowered Turkey's Elif Keles in the women's 70 kg category of the Sanda section, and was awarded the gold medal. Maliheh Fazli beat her Italian opponent Di Biase Antonia in the final match of women's 75 kg category of the Sanda section and won the gold medal. The 11th World Wushu Competition opened in Turkish capital city of Ankara on October 9 and was wrapped up on October 14. About 700 athletes from over 83 countries compete in the sports event, according to a statement posted on the Turkish Wushu Association website, in the 11th World Wushu Championships. Turkey was hosting the Wushu Championships for the first time, according to chairman of the Turkish Wushu Federation, Abdurrahman Akyuz. The Championship competitions took place at the Ankara Sports Hall and around 700 athletes from 83 countries, including Palestine, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon competed at the Championships.
