African champions Esperance from Tunisia are capable of springing a surprise at the Club World Cup, says the man who scored the goal that sent them to the intercontinental showpiece. Raiding Ghanaian full-back Harrison Afful was the toast of Tunis in November when his curling strike nestled in the Wydad Casablanca net to propel Esperance to glory and a spot in Japan facing the world’s best.“It won’t be easy for us, but with the ability we’ve got, nothing’s impossible. I can tell you, we’re capable of going a long way in this competition,” said the international defender. Esperance take on Asian champions Al Sadd, from Qatar, on Sunday, with a semi-final glamour tie against Barcelona up for grabs. The 25-year-old Afful, who is not first choice under coach Nabil Maaloul, told FIFA.com that he was still enjoying his screamer against Wydad.“I keep on watching my goal over and over again on my computer,” said Afful, nicknamed “Falfoul” by his Esperance team-mates.“The thing is, I can hardly recognise myself because I’m not used to scoring goals at all. I’m more of a provider.”
