Emirates Aviation and Oudh Al Anfar emerged champions in the Inter-University and Sponsors Cup of the Nissan Gulf Cup cricket tournament organised by Young Talents Cricket Academy (YTCA) under the aegis of the Dubai Cricket Council. Emirates Aviation took top flight as they thrashed Heriot Watt University by eight wickets to emerge Inter-University champions. The high-scoring University Cup final was a thrilling affair as Heriot Watt posted a challenging total of 192 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Aviation side chased with aplomb scoring 193 for the loss of two wickets with an over to spare. The Emirates Aviation chase was made possible thanks to Umair Pashiman’s unbeaten knock of 72. Keeping company for Pashiman was Zahid Bashir who also played an important knock of 38 not out while Rahul also contributed 45. Earlier, Hariot Watt, batting first, were well served by Aqib Malik’s entertaining 53 off 43 balls with Imaad (28), Nuhman (27) Abdullah (19) providing able support. Rahul was the pick of the Emirates Aviation bowlers with a superb haul of three for 17.In the Sponsor Cup final, Zahid’s all-round show backed with an excellent team-work saw Oudh Al Anfar pull off a 12-run win over HSBC. Batting first, Oudh Al Anfar, chalked up a challenging total of 148 before being all out in 20 overs. Amjad top scored with 57 while Zahid hit 21 runs with Shakoor adding another 16 runs. The HSBC duo of Adnan and Ahmed claimed three wickets each. In reply, Zahid’s four-wicket burst restricted the bankers to 136 for the loss of seven in their allotted 20 overs. Oudh Al Anfar 148 all out in 20 overs (Shakoor 16, Zahid 21, Amjad 57, Shahzad 14, Adnan 3-31, Ahmed 3-26, Moiz 1-20, Salman Farook 1-31).
