Rodolfo Borrell feels the return of Jack Robinson was one of the highlights of Liverpool Reserves' 4-0 win over Norwich City at Melwood on Tuesday. The defender played for an hour having been sidelined since October due to a foot injury, and Borrell was pleased with his performance. "It was one of the highlights because he has come back from an injury and spent time on the sidelines," the reserve-team boss told Liverpoolfc.tv. "He did quite well. It was good to him for play 60 minutes for the first time in nearly four months." Robinson was joined in the starting XI by the likes of Fabio Aurelio, Jonjo Shelvey, Sebastian Coates, Brad Jones and Jon Flanagan. Borrell believes having players with senior experience in his team will benefit the second-string's younger starlets. The boss let me know these lads needed a game, so we used the reserve fixture to let them play and I am happy for them," he said. "It is a great boost in terms of experience surrounding the younger lads on the pitch. "They are getting experience playing in the reserve league and the NextGen Series, but sharing the dressing room and the pitch with these important players from our club is a good experience for them." Shelvey struck Liverpool's fourth and final goal in the victory to add to a Nathan Eccleston brace and a Raheem Sterling strike against the Canaries. The game was switched from the Academy to Melwood at the eleventh hour due to the condition of the playing surface at Kirkby, and Borrell was delighted the match was able to go ahead. He said: "The conditions were poor because it was very, very cold and sometimes it can be difficult to get on with the game when it's like that, but fortunately we have under soil heating and Kenny Dalglish and the staff let us play at Melwood because it was impossible to play at the Academy. It was a good experience for them to play at Melwood. "We swapped the venue at the final moment and we were fortunate to play the game. If we hadn't been able to, it would have been another postponed game and difficult to fit into our calendar. "I think we played well, especially in the first half where we saw some good football. We played with a good tempo, created lots of chances and could have scored more goals. "In the second half, after the third and fourth goals I think there was a drop in the general level of the game. We still could have scored more goals and I think we played quite well."
