Hungary's Katinka Hosszu swam to her fifth short course world record on Wednesday when she clocked 4min 19.46sec in the 400m individual medley heats at the European championships in Netanya in Israel.
Hosszu took the record set by Spain's Mireia Belmonte last year.
"I really wanted to take this record, I didn't want to wait until the final in the afternoon," she said.
In the final, the Hungarian star won in 4:19.75 ahead of Britain's Hannah Miley (4:26.87) and Lara Grangeon of France (4:27.31).
