Bangkok - AFP

World number four Andy Murray is among the big names set to compete at the Thailand Open next month, along with a clutch of rising stars, organisers said Tuesday. Britain's Murray, who defeated world number one Novak Djokovic to win the Cincinnati Masters last week, was runner-up at the Thai tournament in 2005. He will join two past Thailand Open champions -- Gilles Simon of France and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain -- at the September 24 to October 2 event, which will use the Hawk-Eye electronic ball tracker for the first time. "More and more world class tennis players are joining our tournament. The technology will make our tournament world class," Thailand Open Executive Committee chairman Suwat Liptapanlop told a news conference. Last year Garcia-Lopez, now ranked 37, beat Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the Thailand Open final to win his second ATP Tour title. Nieminen will also return to compete at this year's tournament in the suburbs of Bangkok, along with Swede Robin Soderling, Gael Monfils of France and Latvia's Ernests Gulbis.
