Jeff Karstens threw seven scoreless innings and Michael McKenry triggered a big fifth inning with an RBI double Saturday in Pittsburgh's 4-0 win over Milwaukee. Karstens (5-3) allowed seven hits, didn't issue a walk and struck out four before being removed from the game with discomfort in his right groin. Tony Watson, Jason Grilli and Joel Hanrahan finished up the whitewash for the Pirates, who snapped a four-game losing streak and evened their three-game series. Pittsburgh scored four unearned runs in the fifth when Carlos Gomez dropped Neil Walker's routine fly ball to lead off the frame and McKenry smacked a one-out double to left-center. The next three batters -- Karstens, Jose Tabata and Travis Snider -- each delivered run-scoring hits to ice the victory. Brewers starter Shaun Marcum (5-4) yielded the four unearned tallies, allowing five hits and one walk while fanning five.
