Kris Medlen took a step forward in his comeback from Tommy John surgery Tuesday, pitching the Atlanta Braves to a 7-1 win over Miami. Medlen (2-1) -- who pitched only two games last season and opened the 2012 campaign in the bullpen -- held Miami to one run on four hits over five innings in his first start since 2010 and helped the Braves extend their winning streak to seven. He allowed a run in the first inning and then cruised until it began to rain after five innings The delay of nearly 2 hours brought Medlen's's night to an end after an efficient 57 pitches, 40 of which were strikes. Tyler Pastornicky and Brian McCann homered for the Braves and Juan Francisco went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Donnie Murphy drove in the only run for the Marlins with a solo home run and Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 18 games. Miami lost for the 10th time in its last 13 games. Ricky Nolasco (8-10) was hung with the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings.h time in 15 games.
