Dubai - Arab Today

The Vice President of Tennis Emirates (TE) has hailed the efforts being put in by the local organising committee while preparing to host the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in Dubai later this month.
Scheduled to be held from September 16 to 18 under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC); the annual meeting of the ITF will bring together nearly 200 top officials from the world of tennis from across the world.
The AGM of the ITF will be held at the Madinat Jumeirah Hotel and Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, Vice President of Tennis Emirates is pleased to see that everything is falling in place to host such an important event in the U.A.E..
"The local organising committee has been working tirelessly since the past few months to prepare and host a successful session of the AGM of the ITF in Dubai. After the formation of the main organising committee, we have assigned roles to sub-committees who have been meeting regularly to ensure the smooth preparation for the event,” Abdul Rahman Falaknaz said.
The draw for the 2015 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas will be held during the course of this year's AGM. With all the Davis Cup Playoff ties of the 2014 edition concluding on September 14, top officials from the ITF will be present at the draw ceremony the following week to decide who meets whom in the opening round of the 2015 edition.
"For us at Tennis Emirates, the holding of the AGM in the U.A.E., in general, and in Dubai in particular, is a great honour for the people of the U.A.E. and we expect huge advantages to boost the game of tennis in the U.A.E.,” Falaknaz noted.
Yet another highlight during the AGM will be an attempt to set a first-time Guinness World Record by creating a mosaic using tennis balls to depict the victory sign of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai. The Guinness World Record attempt will be held at the events arena of Jumeirah Beach Hotel at 5.30 pm on September 17.
