Dubai has claimed the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ‘Best Tournament' award in the 500 category for the eleventh time in 12 years.
The award was presented on centre court late on Tuesday by Chris Kermode, ATP Executive Chairman and President to Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman, Dubai Duty Free in the presence of Alison Lee, Executive Vice President, International Group, ATP, Tournament Director Salah Tahlak, among others.
The Tournament of the Year awards, voted annually by ATP players, recognises the leading standards set across the three tournament categories on the ATP World Tour.
The 2014 edition of the annual awards presented by Moet & Chandon went to BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells, Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and the Aegon Championships as the most favoured ATP World Tour events in the Masters 1000, 500 and 250 categories respectively.
"These three tournaments has set the benchmark in their respective categories last year, not only in providing a terrific experience for the fans, but also for offering a range of world-class facilities for the players,” Kermode said.
"Each one is truly deserving of this important recognition as voted by the players,” he added.
