Sharjah Ladies Club, SLC, has announced that more than AED100, 000 worth of prizes will be at stake for this year’s Sharjah Ladies Run, taking place on February 24.

First, second and third places in the 5km and 10km races, will receive cash prizes worth AED28,000 from the club, one year memberships at health centres and AED74,000 worth of gift vouchers from the event sponsors.

As the fourth edition of the Sharjah Ladies Run approaches, both SLC and the participants are finishing preparations for the event, to be held next to the Skyline University at Sharjah University City.

Registration is open until Sunday February 19, 2017 for all women and girls above 12 years of age who want to take part in the run taking place from 6pm to 9pm. They can register online at http://www.slc.ae. Girls aged under 15 years can register for the 5km race, and those aged 15 years and above for the 10km race.

"With just a few days to go, we are looking forward to another highly successful event, which, as well as being great fun, is also extremely competitive," said Duaa Al Mahri, Head of Corporate Communication at SLC.

"The Sharjah Ladies Run aims to encourage women and girls to lead a healthy lifestyle, and highlight the vital role of sports in achieving that," Al Mahri added.

In accordance with its own strict safety criteria, SLC will station a team of female paramedics along the route to provide any medical attention where needed during and after the run.
