Qatar secured Saturday medals on the first day of the 2nd Qatar International Karate Championships, which concludes on Sunday. Qatar won two gold medals, two silver ones and five bronze medals on the first day. The competition sees 18 countries and 10 clubs competing this year. The first gold medal was in the Kata Individual where Adham Abdul Nasser beat his counterpart from Azerbaijan in the final. The second medal was in the Under 70 Kilograms category. Mohammed Abdul Barri defeated his Jordanian counterpart Mazen Raafat in the final. Secretary General of Qatar Karate Federation Eid Ali Al Muraikhi said that the competition was strong on its first day. Speaking to Qatar News Agency, he extended his congratulations to Adham Abdul Nasser and Mohammed Abdul Barri for winning gold.
